COMPUTER REPAIR / COLUMBIA

Computer or laptop broken? Is it worth fixing?

A dead laptop, cracked screen, failing battery, overheating computer, or machine that keeps freezing does not automatically mean it is time to replace it. BrainRoad tests the failure, explains the repair that makes sense, and tells you when the money is better spent elsewhere.

Free diagnosis. One approved repair price. Typical one-to-two-day turnaround for ordinary hardware work.

$149 flat labor for hands-on repair. Parts are billed at cost with receipts. Not fixed, no charge.

Work with Bryan Leasure. 30 years in IT. Based in Columbia, serving Missouri.

COMPUTER REPAIR / COLUMBIAHOW WE CHECK
Find out what failed and what the repair would cost before deciding to replace the computer.

What happened to the computer?

Tell Bryan whether it stopped turning on, began shutting down, became unusually slow, or suffered visible damage. That is enough to begin the diagnosis.

The laptop will not turn on
No lights, no fan, a black screen, or a brief flash and then nothing.
It freezes or shuts down
The computer crashes during ordinary work, gets hot, or turns itself off without warning.
The screen or battery is failing
A cracked display, flickering picture, swollen or short-lived battery, or a charger that only works at an angle.
It is painfully slow
Startup takes forever, programs stop responding, or every click has begun to feel delayed.
You already tried the obvious steps
A restart, another outlet, updates, or the manufacturer checklist did not settle what is actually wrong.

A repair decision, not a parts guess.

The same symptom can come from power, storage, memory, heat, Windows, or a combination. The first job is to find the failure and decide whether the repair earns its cost.

  1. CHECK 1

    Separate hardware from software

We test power, storage, memory, temperature, Windows, and the symptoms together instead of guessing from one error message.

  2. CHECK 2

    Quote the repair

You get one flat labor price and any parts are shown at cost with receipts before work begins.

  3. CHECK 3

Fix only what earns its keep

Screens, batteries, drives, memory, cooling problems, and recoverable startup failures are repaired when the value makes sense.

  4. CHECK 4

    Say when replacement wins

If replacement is the better value, BrainRoad shows specific options at cost with the receipt. You can also buy the replacement anywhere you like.

Repair it when the numbers make sense.

The free diagnosis compares the likely repair cost with the age and condition of the computer. You get a repair, upgrade, or replacement recommendation before spending money.

Questions before you call

How much does computer or laptop repair cost?
Diagnosis is free. Hands-on repair is $149 flat for labor, with parts passed through at cost and approved before purchase. If BrainRoad cannot fix the problem, you do not pay for the repair.
Where do I bring the computer?
Hardware repairs use scheduled drop-off at the BrainRoad office in Columbia, Missouri. Book a time or call first so someone is ready for the machine.
How long does a repair usually take?
The published expectation for ordinary hardware work is one to two days. Parts availability, liquid damage, or an intermittent failure can take longer; you will hear that before work continues.
Can you help with Macs, Linux, phones, and tablets?
Yes. BrainRoad welcomes Windows, Mac, and Linux computers, phones, tablets, and connected devices. Describe the device and the problem; we will explain the repair or setup options and price before work begins.
Should I repair an old computer or replace it?
That depends on the failure, the machine, and what a replacement would cost. BrainRoad gives a free keep-or-replace opinion, never marks up hardware, and is happy for you to buy a replacement anywhere.
